Database of IRC Networks
This database will hopefully hold all IRC networks, at the moment networks are still being added so it isn't comprehensive yet. A plain list of networks can be found here.
Networks can be classed in 3 sizes :
- Big - Greater than 20,000 simultaneous clients
- Medium - Between 1,000 and 20,000
- Small - Under 1,000
Some networks are subject or country based and some are run as a commerical buisness, this will be noted in the comment field in the list.
As a general rule, the larger the network the less the admins can have control over what goes on but they also have a greater number of people on and so a wider variety (although this isn't necessarily a good thing)
